Description Miguel Angel Liebana 2009-02-05 14:58:00 UTC
Version: 2.2 (using 4.2.00 (KDE 4.2.0), Gentoo)
Compiler: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.27-gentoo-r8

I have installed KDE 4.2 in a fresh system. From the first start of KDE, I'm unable to use Konsole. The application starts without problems, but doesn't shows the command line, only a grey rectangle.

The application menubar and tabs work, but I can't input anything. I don't see any error message or crash while running the app.

If I start only XOrg (with startx) I can run xterm and konsole and both works perfectly, but not from KDE.

Do you see any warning messages from Konsole if you run it from an xterm or another Konsole?
Comment 2 Miguel Angel Liebana 2009-02-05 22:56:25 UTC
I suffer the same issue if I open xterm or sakura from inside KDE4 (from the menu), so I can't see if there are messages. Launched from xorg there isn't any issue, perhaps is not related directly to konsole.
Comment 3 Miguel Angel Liebana 2009-02-07 14:13:56 UTC
It seems to be something related with Xorg and permissions, nothing related with KDE. Sorry
