Version: 4.2.00 (using KDE 4.2.0) OS: Linux Installed from: Ubuntu Packages Following are some of the applications which have the problem. Dolphin Kate KTorrent Steps to reproduce. 1) Open the application 2) Resize/Maximize the window 3) Close the application 4) Re-open the application - size defaults to some value Thanks a lot...
I found out the solution, just now.. But I feel that this (remembering the size) should be made the default behaviour of windows rather than forcing the application to open in default size... Goto System Settings -> Window Behavior -> Window-Specific -> (app) initial default size -> Modify -> Geometry -> (Size, Maximized horizontally, Maximized vertically) -> Choose Remember -> OK -> Apply The above (looong) steps solve the problem though. But it requires the user to change options for each and every application which is a painful task, IMHO !! Thanks a lot...
Did you have rules for all those apps? I know that Kubuntu added some default rules. So if there were those rules, they were created by Kubuntu. That would make this bug report invalid and you should report this issue to Kubuntu devs at launchpad.
I don't know how & where to find those kubuntu-specific 'rules' ? BTW, what are the default rules set by kde 4.2 ? One more problem is that Firefox always starts with a default size even if we change/maximize the size. I couldn't find any settings or rules for the same. Could you please help me out? Thanks a lot...
(In reply to comment #3) > I don't know how & where to find those kubuntu-specific 'rules' ? > BTW, what are the default rules set by kde 4.2 ? In the list shown in "System Settings -> Window Behavior -> Window-Specific" each one for an application which has not been created by you is set by Kubuntu. Vanilla KDE does not have any rules for default sizes.
Thanks Martin, I ll raise this bug against the kubuntu team then. Thanks a lot... PS: I am loving the new kde 4.2 and it is rocking !!! I was using gnome before and I switched to kde because of this new great release and I am enjoying it. Thanks a lot to all of you and you guys are really amazing. I really appreciate all the hard-work and dedication that you are showing.
