Version: (using KDE 4.2.0) OS: Linux Installed from: Ubuntu Packages The "Back" item is not present in toolbar menu in systemsettings app. There is only "Search" item present. Thus, it's is not possible to go back to the settings menu.
Mh, I think there isn't a way to disable the "Back" button so I don't know how it got hidden. Can you try with a test new user account ? This may be an Ubuntu packaging error Thanks :)
With a new user account there is the back to overview option. But in my account there isn't. I saw that in the new account there is only .kde directory, so I removed the .kde4 directory. I didn't help. Any other ideas? I won't remove the whole .kde directory. Maybe you know which specific files have to be overwritten or removed to be created again by the next kde session. Thanks
You can move out the file: "~/.kde4/share/config/systemsettingsrc" to check if the Button comes back. Thanks
SVN commit 922910 by mpyne: Bump the version of the systemsettingsui.rc file so that the changes to it are reflected in users who managed to end up with a custom ui.rc file (like myself). Will be in KDE 4.3, backporting to KDE 4.2.1. Users affected by this bug can in the meantime delete $KDEHOME/share/apps/systemsettings/systemsettingsui.rc CCBUG:182745 M +1 -1 systemsettingsui.rc WebSVN link: http://websvn.kde.org/?view=rev&revision=922910
