Description Benedikt Gans 2009-02-01 11:48:09 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.0)
Compiler: gcc 4.3.3-1
OS: Linux
Installed from: Unlisted Binary Package

In the windowlist configuration dialogue of kde3.5 is an option to assigne actions to left, middle and right mouse button. the actions available include to cycle, raise, minimize, activate, move to background and to close window. There is no way to configure this in the window-list configuration dialogue in kde4.2.

closing windows with left-click action is a valuable time-saver and although I'm shure it was not used by many users, it must be missed by some.

I'm using the standard archlinux packages of kde4.2

The reporter likely meant closing windows with the middle mouse button, which is immensely useful and also adds to the consistency (most browsers accept middle mouse clicks to close tabs). Regardless of that, having choice is always great, and in this case it’s highly useful.

I just realized I wrote close window with left mouse button. What I meant was closing with middle mouse clicks just like tabs in a browser, Thanks for making that clear, Roman.
This bug also relates to 190951 "hide window on middle mouse click", which describes the same missing feature from kde3. I'm not shure if this is to be marked as a duplicate, so feel free to correct me.
Kind regards,
Benedikt

Want this feature back as well... It was very comfortable to have the ability of closing apps just with middle-click on them in the taskbar.

Nowadays one is used to close tabs in many apps with middle-click, and it is also a bit confusing, when this is not default niether possible to set up on taskbar-widget.

yes this feature is a must have, in my opinion. i really don't know why it's gone.
everything i want to say was already said before, so please add this feature again, please.

Plasma 5.7 provides this.
