Description Dmitry 2009-02-01 10:22:33 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.0)
Compiler: gcc (GCC) 4.1.2 (Gentoo 4.1.2 p1.1)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

Hello, All.

It's a bit stragne that such bug wasn't described earlier, so... I have a strange effect on tray icons. Seems that bitmap gets corrupted when new icon get's added to the tray or tray has been resized.

Icon bitmaps may mixed, overlayed by other icons or have their background changed from transparent to the black or just copy of another region of the screen.

Note: When I switch to the console mode (using Ctrl+Alt+Fx) and then back to the X -- icons are drawed cleanly without artifacts. Perhaps, the full invalidation and redrawing of the whole screen fixes the thing, but only until another resize happens.

I have asus X50N notebook with nVidia 7000M videocard installed..

the worst case perhaps =) You can see background corruption and icon overlaying.

This problem is present since KDE4 was firs released. Strange that no one reported yet. I am using suse 11.1 x64.

My guess is this is in connection to extra (non kde) tray icons. Skype in my case.

Yes, I know. I started using KDE 4 from it's earliest versions and this problem remains from that time.

I think it is no matted what icon is envolved, but... I agree that skype icon is corrupted much less often than the others like kmix, etc. I can't even remember such case.

P.S: I heared somewhere that this is not KDE fault, but the bug in Qt itself. I was told that it will be fixed in Qt 4.5.

Lets sets see: Kde4 was released a year ago and kde 4.2 just now. It can be a complicated one ^^

But no offense. KDE4 is just great!

This is a Qt bug and it's already reported a while ago (and now it's already fixed in Qt-copy and it Qt4.5 )
