Version: (using KDE 4.2.0) OS: Linux Installed from: SuSE RPMs Plasma main panel freeze randomly when computer is idle. Clicking clock for instance crashes the panel and it is restarted. This seems to start happening after being logged in for a couple of days, but after that happens daily. No desktop effects enabled, NVIDIA card with 180.22 driver. Plasma applets added to panel: digital clock, application launcher, device notifier, lock/logout, pager, quicklauncher, show widget dashboard, system monitor CPU, system monitor Network, system tray, task manager.

The backtrace doesn't contain a lot of information, but it seems that the crash is related to the Oxygen widget style code. Can you try switching to another widget style (SystemSettings->Appearances->Styles) to a non-Oxygen one (Plastique, CleanLooks) only for testing ? Anyways we need to generate a better backtrace so you need to install the "libqt4" and "kdebase-runtime" debuginfo packages. Thanks!
OK. I've done the change, and will report back. If there is no crash within a couple of days, I'll switch back to Oxygen and install the debuginfo packages.

the new backtrace isn't much help unfortunately :/ Ole, are you still using 4.2.0? if so, can you try updating to something newer like 4.2.2?
I've already upgraded to 4.2.2 from Suse. So what more can I do to get a proper backtrace? As far as I know I have all relevant debuginfo packages installed.
Is your "libqt4-debuginfo" package the same version as "libtqt4" ? "libqt4-debuginfo" should provide the debug symbols. May be there are another qt4-debug package in the repos. (I don't know) Thanks
What you are looking to fix in your backtrace is lines 5-12 under "thread 1". The part right after it says "KCrash". You don't want there to be ?? (Maybe 16-20 would be useful too) It looks like you have some of the Qt debug stuff, but not all??? This is weird.
there are some missing debug packages there still, but i recognize this crash. the key signature is drawPixmap -> drawRects -> into qt -> death. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 176014 ***
