If you can reproduce the crash at will, may you read http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports and post a complete backtrace here? Thanks :)
Comment 3 Greg John Goodsir 2009-02-20 00:55:24 UTC
I can reproduce this crash by:
1. Click on kttsmgr from Accessability menu.
2. Click on the icon that loads on the kde panel.
3. Click on Configure.
4. Click on Talkers tab.
5. Click on Add.
6. Click on Synthesizer Festival interactive then OK.
7. Click on Test.
It immediately crashes.
In 6. if I select Festival Lite and click on test there is no crash but no voice is heard.
The OK button is also greyed out after selecting the synthesizer and clicking OK in the box before. The button is greyed out for both Festival interactive and Festival Lite. With FreeTTS I cannot find an executable for it.
If I select the FreeTTS synthesizer when I click test I see a small window momentarily appear but no speech.
I also get the same crash message if I click on the Tools menu in Konqueror and Speak.

Greg, backtrace in comment #4 is bug 184310.

barust, can you still reproduce the crash on KDE 4.2.3 or KDE 4.3 beta1 ?
Comment 6 Dario Andres 2009-09-28 01:36:07 UTC
Marking as NEEDSINFO
Comment 7 Jeremy Whiting 2013-02-28 15:51:17 UTC
Closing as kttsd is now jovie, has been rewritten to use speech-dispatcher to talk to festival and other synthesizers so the code that crashes isn't even in jovie.

Reopen or create a new bug if you have similar issues with jovie.
