Version: 4.196 (using Devel) OS: Linux Installed from: Compiled sources When I change the shortcut for focus the searchbar to Ctrl+K like in Firefox via the menu Settings > Shortcuts everything is fine. But when restarting Konqueror this setting is lost and the default one is set again. I tried this issue several times and it is always the same.
This bug is still present in Konqueror 4.2.2. On a related note: Wouldn't Ctrl+K/Ctrl+E make a great default shortcut for the searchbar? I really missed that one. Note: In Firefox Ctrl+K is the default and Ctrl+E also works. The latter is the most useful to remember since it works also in IE. If Konqueror had Ctrl+E as (secondary if need be) shortcut we'd have a real cross-platform shortcut 8-)
Would be a great idea I think. Shouldn't be to complicated to learn a new shortcut and it would really be great to use every browser intuitivly. By the way - shortcut saving still doesn't work yet. I would think that the problem isn't related to Konqueror, rather to KDE or QT or something like that, but all other apps I tested can be configured fine. Does someone else have this problem?
I just closed the similar bug 214186, same questions here: 1) are you on kubuntu? 2) does it work with KDE 4.5? 3) If not, please check if <Action shortcut="Ctrl+S; Ctrl+K" name="focus_search_bar"/> gets written to ~/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/kpartplugins/searchbar.rc and reopen the bug. It works for me.
