Hi, my name is Ahmed and I would like to have my blog added to planet kde.
I am just starting my contribution to kde. One area I intend to be active in is documentation as I am not satisfied with the current situation. I think we need more comprehensive tutorials for various features/frameworks that were developed for kde 4.

Furthermore I intend (in due time) to help with the actual development of kde applications and plasmoids.

My hope is that my posts will be educational in that they will provide solutions to problems that I (and perhaps others) have encountered while learning to use the kde platform. As well as provide a case study of what it is like to jump into such a large community and find the places where you can be most useful.
Perhaps through reading my essays/posts others who have been on the fence will be convinced to join the kde community and perhaps they will give more insight as to how we can improve the experience of joining the kde project.

Thank you very much for your time,
AhmedG.

Hmm I still haven't found a suitable picture. Is this mandatory or can I have one added later?

A picture is nice but not mandatory.

What is your surname?
Comment 3 Rich Johnson 2009-02-11 17:23:23 UTC
Hey Ahmed, nice to kind of meet you :)

My name is Rich Johnson, aka nixternal pretty much everywhere, and I am one of the team leads for the KDE Documentation Project. This is the first time I have heard of ya, have by chance made it onto our mailing list or in the IRC channel? If possible in the near future I would like to hopefully get to work along side of you on documentation, as I am sure you are already aware that it isn't in the best shape.

Thanks!

Rich

Jonathan,
My Surname is Ghonim. (Ahmed Ghonim). Thanks for your help.

Hey Rick,
Yeah, I have sort have been browsing the docs. I haven't yet subscribe to the mailing list, but I'll be getting to there soon. Lately I have been working on kjots with Stephen Kelly on fixing some bugs in kjots. In the next few weeks I'll be familiarizing myself with the api etc. But I would very much like to work with you on documentation. I have some ideas I would like to throw around for how we can improve it.

Jonathan,
This is my "picture". I just drew it up in inkscape, sorry it took so long :P.
