Version: (using Devel) OS: Linux Installed from: Compiled sources I have an external HDMI-1 monitor and when I set a dual-head configuration with xrandr, the external monitor flickers. This happens especially when running a non-KDE app like firefox or a citrix client etc. It also happens if a window is maximis/zed on the external monitor. This used to be an issue some time ago and it was resolved by turning off the RANDR detection service in systemsettings. However, after 4.2 beta 2, this has gone in the "Load on demand services". Until this is fixed, is there a way to turn off the service from "Load on demand" list?
Noticed that this now happens no matter what window is on the external monitor. As of right now, I have a konsole open and the monitor is flickering madly ...
Sorry, looks like this is a non-KDE app related issue. If any non-KDE app is on the external monitor, it flickers. However, if only KDE apps are on the external monitor, there is no flicker. Hope this helps to narrow down the cause. In any case, a way to turn off "KDED-module for screen management" should help as a workaround.
- Is this still happening with an updated KDE4.3 /4.4 ? Thanks
Hi Dario, No, I haven't noticed any flicker with the external monitor since 4.3. I am also running 4.3.70 (KDE 4.4 wannabe) at the moment via openSUSE and there's no flicker either with the external monitor. Good show. However, my only wish is that we have positioning of monitors built into krandr gui real soon-- as of now, the only option is to use xandr from the command line to do it. This may not be related here, so sorry.
I believe this bug can now be marked Resolved. Thank you.
