Description Carl 2009-01-08 17:30:27 UTC
Version: 4.1.3 (using KDE 4.1.3)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Unlisted Binary Package

When using Webex to setup a meeting, I cannot share my desktop when using Kwin. The share desktop applet crashes after 10 seconds. It will always crash when I minimize the Webex Meeting Manager applet window.

When running KDE 4 with IceWM as window manager, the share desktop session is stable, so Kwin must be the cause of it.

I have tried the following:
KDE 4.1.3 on Arch Linux
KDE 4.2 beta on MEPIS (Debian)
Sun Java 1.5.16, 1.6.10 and 1.6.11
Enable / Disable desktop effects.

Since I use Webex a lot for work, this is a nuisance. I can workaround by switching to IceWM, but I feel Kwin should not cause these crashes.

If Webex crashes, it is most probably a Webex problem. Please report to its developers.

Comment 2 Carl 2009-01-08 18:54:44 UTC
I am sorry, but I am not so sure. It does not crash when using IceWM as a window manager, and does crash when using Kwin. If you need me to perform some test or other I will be glad to oblige...

Please provide a backtrace.
Comment 4 Carl 2009-01-10 18:48:53 UTC
1st if all: thanks for following up.

I think a backtrace will probably be useless, since it is not Kwin that crashes, but rather the Webex share desktop window. When I say 'crashes' I mean that the 'Share desktop' window simply closes and the desktop sharing session is interrupted.

If there is some way to backtrace Kwin without it actually crashing, please let me know since I have no idea how to do it.
