Version: (using Devel) OS: Linux Installed from: Compiled sources I've noticed this behavior using KDE 4.2 beta 2 packages for Kubuntu, and using compiled sources (KDE 4.2 >= 20090101, updated yesterday). The problem is that I can select themes for KDM using the button "Get new Themes", in the Theme tab from the Login Manager module in Systemsettings. I can browse themes and select the ones I want, but when they are installed an I close the "Get New Themes" dialo, I can't select the themes I have installed. I have revised /usr/share/kde4/apps/kdm/themes (for Kubuntu 4.2 beta packages) and /home/kde-devel/kde/share/apps/kdm/themes/ (for KDE 4.2 trunk, compiled from sources) and I can see the folders containing the themes I have downloaded, but I can't select them in the Theme tab of Login Manager module.

that's usually the effect of downloading themes for kdm3 (which officially had no theming support at all) instead of for kdm4. so the bug is not in kde itself, but in kde-look.org missing a separate category for kdm3 themes.
ok, we have now a new kde-look category and kde 4.2 will use it. so i declare this fixed even if there was no real bug in the first place. :)
Fantastic! But I can see KDM4 themes under KDE3 category. Will you move them to their new category? Thanks a lot!
the submiters will be asked to do so in a public announcement. let's see what comes out of it ...
