Description Dale 2009-01-02 17:30:50 UTC
Version: K9copy 2.0.2 (using KDE 4.1.3)
OS: Other
Installed from: I Don't Know

K9copy installed from repository in Ubuntu 8.10 consistently crashes when copying DVDs.

K9copy installed with apt-get on fresh Ubuntu 8.10 install on i-386 architecture. Using USB attached DVD RW drive.
Medibuntu repositories added and decss2 installed.

This worked fine under Kubuntu 8.04 and KDE 3.5x

Going to KDE 4 is out of the questions, so I'm trying Ubuntu with the Gnome interface. I don't like it, but it's better than KDE 4 - just critical applications like K9copy don't work. Wonderful.

Went back to Kubuntu 8.10 and it still crashes.

I have tried this with USB attached DVD Reader and internal PATA.
Along with the issues with burning DVD ISO images, I can't imagine too much testing went into this release. What a joy.

Does ANYONE have a cluestick you can hit me with?

Fresh install of Kubuntu 8.10 from DVD download image.
Ran all updates
Reboot
Install k9copy
Install Medibuntu repositories
Rn updates
Installed libdvddcss2

Inserted my "12 Monkeys" DVD
Opened k9copy
Copy from the DVD to ISO image
Crash.
K9copy can't (or won't) eject the disk
as root at the CLI "eject" ejects the disk.

*SOMETIMES* you have to reboot to get access to the DVD drive if it's PATA and if it's the USB drive you have to disconnect the USB interface or power cycle the drive...

K9Copy crashes here on intrepid too. KDE 4.1.3 and k9copy 2.1.0

I get the following error.
