Description jan sekal 2008-12-29 12:09:32 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.1.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Mandrake RPMs

Kde should have some intrinsic on-panel lightweighted cpu/RAM monitor. The System Monitor on KDE 4.1 seems to consume quite a high amount of CPU (10 % of my 1,5 GHz) itself.
On windows, you have this lightweighted monitor on panel by hitting alt ctrl del, then task manager, then minimize
there was somethin like that in kde 3, but in kde 4.1 it seems to be absent

I was a voter for this bug, but the "System Load Viewer" 0.6 widget by Matthew Dawson that ships with KDE 4.6 (or at least Kubuntu 11.04) is perfect to address this bug. It's similar to the widget from KDE 3 that I liked a lot. As far as I'm concerned the bug could be closed.

Disagreed. It's only for CPU/RAM/swap, but what I personally miss is network monitor with configurable "upper limit". Current one changes scale dynamically which makes it almost useless when in trash: whatever it shows, I never know is it high or low traffic.
