Version: (using KDE 4.1.3) OS: Linux Installed from: Ubuntu Packages When using the app-switcher (Alt-Tab), additional Tabs cycle thru open apps, and the shortcut Alt-Shift-Tab cycles in reverse. However, I do not like the reverse shortcut because it uses 3 keys and I find it inconvenient. So I remap this shortcut to Alt+` This works fine in kde-3, MacOSX and WinXP, but fails in kde4. I reported this in a KDE forum: http://forum.kde.org/application-switcher-behavior-issue-t-22088.html#pid28567 and the mod who replied found the same behavior and requested that I report it. Alt-Tab switching is one of the few shortcut similarities between common gui's, so this is important to those of us who work in mixed networks. Thank you.
Here using: Qt: 4.4.3 + qt-copy-patches-889120 KDE: 4.1.86 (KDE 4.1.86 (KDE 4.2 >= 20081221)) kdelibs svn rev. 902031 / kdebase svn rev. 902032 on ArchLinux x86_64 - Kernel 2.6.27.10 I can configure the global shortcuts for "Walking Throught Windows (Reverse)" for KWin to something else (like Alt+1 or Alt+(KeyAboveTab)) and after restarting KWin it works OK in the Alt+Tab application switcher :) (Keyboard shortcuts got reworked a lot for KDE4.2)
And that also works (for example) in the Cover Switch application switcher when compositing is enabled :) Can anyone else confirm this ?
Possibly related to the bug that prevents the forward switching from being changed to a different shortcut. Can't find the report for that one though at the moment.

I think I will still call this unresolved in KDE 4.1 at least because normally remapping shortcuts works immediately and does not require an app restart. Many users will not know to do this and give up on remapping the shortcut.
I have this problem with both back and forward cycling in 4.2 on Debian as well. Restarting doesn't seem to work, I have to remove config files for it to work again. Remapping Alt+Tab or Alt+Shift+Tab to something else and then reverting back to the default keys doesn't work either. This is related to bug report 163732.
