Description Nash Kabbara 2008-12-18 21:27:00 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.1.3)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Sometimes, about 80% of the time, my Konsole window refuses to hide behind the selected window.

It acts as if I have the "Keep above others" checked, but I don't.

Very annoying bug.

System Info
-----------

#uname -a
Linux vaio 2.6.27-9-generic #1 SMP Thu Nov 20 22:15:32 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux

#lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 8.10
Release: 8.10
Codename: intrepid

#fglrxinfo
display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650
OpenGL version string: 2.1.8087 Release

I have effects turned on.

To Reproduce
-------------

Open several windows of different apps with Konsole being on of them.
Go to full screen mode with Konsole
Exit full screen mode with Konsole
Try to switch windows using Alt-Tab
You'll notice that Konsole stay on top of all the others, sometimes.

Here using:

Qt: 4.4.3 + qt-copy-patches-889120
KDE: 4.1.86 (KDE 4.1.86 (KDE 4.2 >= 20081221))
kdelibs svn rev. 902031 / kdebase svn rev. 902032
Intel GMA x3100 (965)
on ArchLinux x86_64 - Kernel 2.6.27.10

I can't reproduce the bug.
Maybe it's related to the desktop effects on ATI

Are you using dual-head of some form?

At any rate it is more likely that this is a bug in kwin, rather than in konsole. It might be a duplicate of bug 169894, although I am not sure that it is.

@Nash: hi, are you still experiencing this bug with newer KDE versions? Are you using dual head?
