Description unununium 2000-12-28 02:45:39 UTC
(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package: konsole
Version: 12/20/2000
Severity: wishlist
Installed from: Source

I think that blinking in konsole should be made an option
that can be disabled in favor of bright backgrounds. In
addition to making things less distracting and easier to
read not having to worry about constantly redrawing
blinking letters should speed up konsole.

An additional side effect occurs when anti-aliasing is enabled and a non-solid
background or transparency is used... Upon each blink refresh, the text gets
repainted and all the text "darkens" on each blink. In other words, the
anti-aliased text gets anti-aliased again. The blink refresh is also
expensive on remote X sessions.

Disregard my previous comment... this issue was fixed/closed in #39804.
Comment 3 Kurt Hindenburg 2004-02-06 07:13:10 UTC
In konsole 1.3, there is an option under configure for 'Blinking cursor'. I would think this (very old) bug can be closed.
Comment 4 Stephan Binner 2004-02-06 09:31:03 UTC
No, the original reporter is speaking about blinking text parts not blinking cursor.
Comment 5 Stephan Kulow 2004-05-17 20:42:01 UTC
Replaced unununium@openverse.org with null@kde.org due to bounces by reporter
Comment 6 Henning Westerholt 2005-07-11 23:54:25 UTC
This could be closed, its now 4,5 years old..
Comment 7 Robert Knight 2006-07-26 23:42:04 UTC
I think it is best to close this bug as it is six years old now and the internals have changed hugely since the filing.

In particular Konsole is now much more conservative about how much gets repainted - so speed should no longer be an issue.

If something relevant comes up again I suggest that a new report should be filed.
