I try gzip compression(file.gz)
with dialog "compress to.."
after do correct things..nothing
happen.

Marking as duplicate of bug 172699 as the situation is the same, and seems to be fixed in SVN trunk (look at bug 172699 comment 1  and bug 172699 comment 2)
