Version: (using Devel) OS: Linux Installed from: Compiled sources How about getting Kopete to the 21st century? Where things that count are good designs, simple, good on the eye? Even Kopete on KDE 4.2 doesn't look so great, even with the new theme! It's ugly! the whole thing looks worse than any other instant messenger. What I mean? Well check iChat, Adium, Pidgin, Trillian, etc... They are well sorted, have good GUI, have some features (Most, except Pidgin which I think only offers relatively good interface) like Voice/Video chat. Just how much longer is kopete supposed to be there used by like 1% of Linux users. Anyway, hope someone can hear me on this. As I see it, using Kopete right now is like using GIMP right now when you already own and use Photoshop for your editing. That's why for me using Kopete is not an option and I rather use Pidgin for the user interface.
What do you suggest? Do you have some mockups, specific improvements or code?
(In reply to comment #1) > What do you suggest? Do you have some mockups, specific improvements or code? > Why do developers always have to expect from people that all of them are developers of some sort... What I suggest is just to look at iChat/Adium/Pidgin, at least make the interface a bit more... easy to look at... to be honest :-/
By A MockUp, what FiNeX meant was can you post a picture of which elements you think kopete is lacking in. At the very least a screenshot of Kopete and some other client (not all of us have ever seen Adium and iChat) with what should be changed circled in red in both clients. Personally I use Kopete because I love the UI btw.
Dear user, unfortunately Kopete is no longer maintained. Please migrate to another solution, e.g. for Jabber a possibility is Kaidan, for Matrix a candidate is NeoChat.
