Here: launching "/usr/bin/kcmshell4 kdm --lang en_US" starts the login manager module (but without root permissions, so it's read-only)

if I want to start "kdesu /usr/bin/kcmshell4 kdm --lang en_US" , it complains about "--lang" as an unknown option and the configuration module isn't showed. Without "--lang en_US" , the module isn't showed (no error messages). This is another bug.

I suppose Suse added a workaround to automatically start that configuration module with kdesu in order to gain admin privileges, so this is a SuSe specific bug. Please, report this in Suse Bugtracker, and mark this bug as RESOLVED with resolution INVALID / or DOWNSTREAM.

See bug 175263. (related but for Fedora)

Any news on this ?
Comment 4 Ben Cooksley 2009-05-01 14:22:12 UTC
This is the result of downstream patching of System Settings by distributions. Please file bugs at the relevant distribution bug trackers to have the issue resolved.

Thanks.
