Version:            (using KDE 3.5.10)
Compiler:          Kubuntu hardy heron with all safe upgrades 
OS:                Linux
Installed from:    Ubuntu Packages

some days it logs in.but most times even with me logged in to my yahoo account kopete will nott login.it just keeps saying name lookup failed.it should log in every time

I don't think that this is a problem of Kopete

Kopete makes a connection to:
scs.msg.yahoo.com

Which needs to first be resolved via DNS. When you get this error, immediately try to "ping scs.msg.yahoo.com" from konsole, and you should get a similar error.

Using Kopete on several Suse 11.0 systems with KDE 3.5.10 "release 33.1" i got same login problems , tried to ping scs.msg.yahoo.com but got correct reply. So this is not a connection problem. One of my systems is running on suse 11.1 with newest KDE 3.5, no login problems there. ( Tried with Kopete for KDE 3.5 and Kopete for KDE4 - both are connecting to my yahoo account ) Checking box to not use standard connection settings and choosing scs.msg.yahoo.com do not work too.

yahoo updated their protocol to discontinue the use of scs.msg.yahoo.com, so that server won't work. yahoo login works perfectly fine currently.
