Version: (using KDE 4.1.2) OS: Linux Installed from: Ubuntu Packages I own a laptop to which i installed kubuntu, and upgraded kde to version 4.1.2. Very often, the fans in my computer start running really fast and loud, as if i had a lot of things running or if i were sitting down in a very hot spot. I thought this would be normal when running benchmarks or tests for hardware, but i get it from scratch, meaning that i just need to open a couple of apps, like amarok or firefox, and there the fans go. Perhaps it could be related to high cpu usage, so the fans start working harder. Below is the info from the top command when the computer fans were at their best (running really loud and fast). top - 01:00:33 up 35 min, 1 user, load average: 0.25, 0.29, 0.38 Tasks: 124 total, 4 running, 120 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie Cpu(s): 24.8%us, 3.6%sy, 0.0%ni, 71.7%id, 0.0%wa, 0.0%hi, 0.0%si, 0.0%st Mem: 1164860k total, 838228k used, 326632k free, 106844k buffers Swap: 522072k total, 0k used, 522072k free, 370284k cached I recall having this problem with the initial version i used with kde 3, but after some updates, don't know which, the problem just went away, but of course, was not as bad as this one is. If you require some other outputs from my computer, don't hesitate to get in contact with me. I don't know much about building kde, but would be more than glad to supply more information to make kde a better desktop app.
Sorry, but the KDE bug tracking system is not toward user support. Please ask in the KDE forum, http://forum.kde.org or in the general user maling list, kde@kde.org
