the actual kubuntu 8.10 with backports (kde4.1.3) enabled. It crashed also in KDE 4.1.2.

Thanks for the bug report. This looks like an issue that was reported already (bug 173813). It is actually a problem with string translations in Xine (which is used as a backend for audio output by the Phonon library). A workaround is described in bug 174438, comments 5/6. You might have to replace "it" by "de" or whatever locale you are using. Please let us know if that fixes your problem.
