Description Warspite 2008-11-07 21:44:10 UTC
Version: 2.1.3ubuntu25.1 (using KDE 4.1.1)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Good afternoon:

I am afraid I have only moved from Windows to GNU-Linux (Kubuntu) very recently. I apologize for my general ignorance.

Was recently trying to update my OS through my package manager, Adept. I followed the instructions given through the UBUNTU web site for preparing Adept to upgrade in this way. It seemed successful; Adept had a nice "FULL UPGRADE" button added. I then clicked this button, and sat back to watch.

It took about two hours but it downloaded the 1100 or so MB of packages it needed. Then it began to install them.

It got to about 3%. Then it stopped going. It hung for about three hours before I hit 'cancel' and tried to pull the plug.

My windows manager ended up freezing entirely. I had to CTRL+ALT+BKSP and login again.

Adept has now ceased to function. Restarting XWINDOWS does not work, nor does restarting the computer entirely. The following bug report is given:

signal 6 (SIGABRT)

As I would both like to download the new version of the OS, and likewise download new programs, I'd be much obliged if someone out there could tell me how to fix this problem.

In the meantime I will try to read up on how to do it myself... but frankly, this is a bit over my n00b head.

eMail me with any question at davekov@gmail.com, anytime.

Thank you very much!

p.s. I believe I am running 4.1.1 - am not 100% on this. I know I am running at least 4.1, as the taste of 4.0 is still fresh in my mouth.

Hi, sorry I cannot help you with this, but they might be able to help you over at http://www.kubuntuforums.net/. I'll close this report, since I can no longer support version 2.1 of Adept.
