Which font was this with? Does it always crash with the same font, or only sometimes? Is it with one font, or when you install multiple fonts?
I've tried several different fonts with the same results, so not font specific. Bug is intermittent. I've had it occur when installing a single font or multiple fonts. However, SOME fonts that produce this crash show up as installed (and work properly) once I go back into System Settings.
This bug seems very similar to: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=172198 If I sent you a patch, is there anyway you can test? I've downloaded Kubuntu Intrepid and run it under VirtualBox, and cant reproduce. I use openSUSE with KDE4.1 packages, and still can't reproduce.

Cannot reproduce using current trunk too. I've tried to install single fonts or even a lot of fonts togheter, and everything works right.
