Version: (using KDE 4.1.2) OS: Linux Installed from: Mandriva RPMs This is fairly serious as it prevents me from being able to do anything that involves typing (email, forums, irc, documents, CLI). I am running Mandriva 2009.0, KDE 4.1.2 with Matlab R2008a, version 7.6.0.324 with java-1.6.0-sun-1.6.0.06-2mdv2009.0.rpm installed. When analyzing data with matlab (takes hours) it repeatedly steals keyboard focus so that it is impossible to do any other work while the analysis is running. The mouse/pointer works OK but keyboard focus is stolen no matter what focus stealing policies I try. I have tried very strict protection, default, tried to create policies specific for matlab, changed the settings to that it is mouse-click dependent, etc. NOTHING works to prevent matlab (the main window) from stealing keyboard focus. I ran this version of matlab in Mandriva 2008.1, kde 3.4.5 as well and had no focus issues whatsoever. This behavior is strictly associated with kde 4.1.2.
Can you reproduce it with a more recent KDE SC version? (4.5.2 or later)? I do not have keyboard focus stealing applications to test this.
Will give it a shot and post the results as soon as I can do it. Sorry for the delay. Is this still an issue? (iirc there has been a bug which prevented effective focus stealing configuration) Can you try to use "kcmshell4 kwinrules" to configure extreme focus stealing prevention for matlab?
