Version: 3.0 Beta 4 (Sheldon) (using KDE 4.1.2) Compiler: gcc 4.3.1 x86_64 OS: Linux Installed from: Ubuntu Packages If the user types "lib" into the quick-search, adept will immediately become unresponsive for several minutes before displaying a list of all matching packages. It would help if adept waited a second or two after every keystroke (as it did in KDE 3) before doing a quick-search, in case (for example) the user were actually trying to type in "liberty" or something else that isn't going to bring up a bajillion packages. It would also be nice if the user could abort a time-consuming search by pressing backspace or something, instead of having to wait for adept to become responsive again. My system: x86_64 Kubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex) Beta KDE 4.1.2 Adept 3.0 Beta 4 (Sheldon)
I can confirm this issue, on Kubuntu Intrepid Ibex Beta with Adept 3.0 Beta 4.
Indeed. I think this has been fixed in kubuntu (not sure the collateral damage has been cleared up yet), but I'll fix this for next version.
Peter correctly observed that this is fixed in Kubuntu. I can't think of any reason to keep this bug open.
The fix was Ubuntu-only, and was questionably implemented.
This is fixed (properly) in beta6 (available in Debian Sid near you).
