Description Per (phobie) 2008-10-17 18:40:38 UTC
Version: 1.1 (using KDE 4.1.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

Sometimes dolphin and also konqueror crashes if the currently active directory will be removed ba a other application.
Very often it happens if I make "rm -rf somedir;dpkg-source -x some.dsc" in konsole (which means deleting a directory and recreating an new one with the same name), while viewing this directory with konqueror.

Same problem on kde 3.5.x and 4.x!

Here is the dolphin backtrace:

Comment 2 Frank Reininghaus 2008-10-18 22:46:12 UTC
Thanks for the bug report. So far, I haven't been able to reproduce this crash in 4.1.2 (Kubuntu). Some questions: Does it happen with any folder, or do you need a folder with special content (like images) to get the crash? Does it depend on the view mode (Icons, Details, Columns)? Do you need to have previews enabled?

The crash in comment 1 (which looks unrelated to the first backtrace) is probably a duplicate of 168478.

It often happens when I compile debian packages.
Could that also be a ram-defect?

I always use "Details" mode.

Independent...
In most cases I have previews disabled.

Should I keep posting more backtraces?
I have plenty of them.

I think that this does not help much, especially because the backtraces you provided so far look unrelated. They seem to correspond to different bugs (but it might still be that you can trigger all these doing something similar). Comment 3 might be related to bug 172508 (which is easy to reproduce).

Same here. I have no debug packages installed, so I can't provide a backtrace.

OpenSuse 11.0 with KDE 4.2 beta 2.

Greetings.
Comment 8 Andreas Kuhl 2009-01-03 09:33:28 UTC
Happens here as well, KDE 4.1.86 on openSUSE. Happens while moving folders away via drag'n'drop. Interestingly enough, it happens quite often but not every time.
Comment 9 David Faure 2009-02-11 01:13:37 UTC
I fixed issues related to this recently. Does this still happen in KDE-4.2?
Comment 10 lexual 2009-02-23 06:57:31 UTC
I have just been unable to reproduce with 4.2, but as I never produced on early version, I'll leave it to the reporter to see if they can reproduce.

Steps taken:
open ~/Desktop/TEST in dolphin
run "rm -rfv ~/Desktop/TEST"; mkdir ~/Desktop/TEST"

Results:
no dolphin crash.
Comment 11 David Faure 2009-02-23 11:54:23 UTC
I fixed this for bug 180156 indeed.
