Description Joe Biden 2008-10-14 08:38:42 UTC
Version:           0.10.0-beta5 (rev.: 871127) (using 4.1.69 (KDE 4.1.69 (KDE 4.2 >= 20081009)), compiled sources)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.27-4-generic

Waaaaay too many menus in Digikam. My gf and I were aghast at the number.

Edit and Album seem to have the same function, or at least close enough. Edit contains selections, what are you selecting? Things in your album...

Import and Export should be on one menu: "Import/Export"
Might even want to put it on the File menu, like it is on most applications.

Batch can go on the tools menu. No need to have it separate.

And why do I have two Edit menus?

Edit is a standard menu entry. We cannot break menu design. Edit is dedicated to items from Albums selection. More entries can be added in the future here.

Images is dedicated to host action for items from Albums, especially kipi-plugins.

Album is dedicated to collection management.

No. this have been the case before and separated for more usability (no bloating menu). we don't want reproduce Gimp menus design here...

>Batch can go on the tools menu. No need to have it separate.

Same here.

> And why do I have two Edit menus?

There is only one Edit menu entry. Sound like a broken installation on your computer.

Never seen that before, there must be an error with your installation.

Definitely error in installation.

Do you run 0.10 under KDE3?

If 'yes' you probably didn't initialized properly KDE4 environment variables.

If 'no' check ~/.kde4/share/apps/digikam directory and remove any *.rc files. If it doesn't help do it the same in ~/.kde/share/apps/digikam directory.
