Description Alan Jenkins 2008-10-07 16:30:29 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.1.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Non-global keyboard shortcuts should not be displayed in menus attached to system tray icons. If they're not global, there's no way to trigger them. They're just a waste of horizontal screen space and mind-clutter.

This can bee seen in the Quit menu-items in the following system tray icons:
KNetworkManager 0.2.2
KMix 4.1.2
Amarok 1.4.1.9

Klipper 0.9.7 avoids this with an open-coded Quit action.

It's worst in Amarok, because it has default global shortcuts for some of the menu items. So you have a list with keyboard shortcuts, and you can use most of them - but not the last one.

I think product plasma fit's that bug more.
Comment 2 Aaron J. Seigo 2009-05-18 10:42:33 UTC
this is in KSystemTrayIcon, not plasma.

Hi,

kdelibs (version 4 and earlier) is no longer maintained since a few years.

KDE Frameworks 5 or 6 might already have implemented this wish.

If not, please re-open against the matching framework if feasible or against the application that shows the issue.

We then can still dispatch it to the right Bugzilla product or component.

Greetings
Christoph Cullmann
