Kopete does not work well with different system colors, the contact list and the chat window looks awefull and somthimes impossible to read. If you try to use black or dark blue you'll get my point

Dear user, unfortunately Kopete is no longer maintained.

Please migrate to another solution, e.g. for Jabber a possibility is Kaidan, for Matrix a candidate is NeoChat.
