it gets annoying setting up different IM clients. so it'd be great if there was a way to automatically import stuff from other clients like pidgin.

pretty much... although that bug is very old (pre kde4 and pidgin)

Dear user, unfortunately Kopete is no longer maintained.

Please migrate to another solution, e.g. for Jabber a possibility is Kaidan, for Matrix a candidate is NeoChat.
