Description m.wege 2008-09-30 20:24:20 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.1.1)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

In all the applications I use the setting "text-position -> only symbols". When I change the icon size this setting is set back to standard "text-position -> text under symbols". This seems to happen often, but not always. I have encountered this in Konqui, Ktorrent, Kmail so far. So I believe it is a general KDE-problem.

This bug stil occurs in recent KDE 4.2.2. I could for example reproduce it by changing the icon size in okular to small (16x16), then choosing "configure toolbar", adding some icons, pressing apply. Now the icon size is reset. But this also happens in other situations.
Comment 2 m.wege 2009-05-24 23:36:30 UTC
The bug is stil present in 4.2.3
Comment 3 m.wege 2009-05-27 10:45:36 UTC
It is also stil present in KDE 4.3 beta. I have tried the follow to reproduce it:
Openend a config-file, here: okularrc, changed the icon size of the toolbar to 16. Start okular. It is shown with the icon size 16. Close okular. Start it again. Icon is set back to 22.
The happens in Dolphin. Others not tested, but I guess it is there for all apps.

Can't reproduce here in KDE 4,3 beta in Kubuntu 9.04:
Changed the toolbar icon size, saved the profile, closed Konqueror, the new icon size is still there.

I can't reproduce on KDE trunk. Do you mean that your okularrc file is then rewritten to have
IconSize=22
when you reopen Okular the second time?
Or that the IconSize is still set to 16 but Okular just does not read this file at all?
Thanks in advance.

Yes this is exactly what I mean and had this problems in all KDE4-versions I tested over the time. May be this is specific to the Kubuntu packages? Is there any way to find out?
Comment 7 m.wege 2009-05-27 12:20:33 UTC
Or may it is related to my other settings? I have set in systemsettings all the available icon sizes to 16, apart from the all icons settings, which can not be set because of bug http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=153689.

I can now give a more reproducable description and a temporary workaround.
The bug appears when you set the standard icon size of the oxygen icon set for toolbars in system settings to 16. If you do that the first thing you notice, that it is not honored, the applications still use 22 as a standard size. The second thing is that if you change the icon size of a toolbar to 16 within in an application (tried with okular and dolphin) that this setting is only temporary applied, but set back after closing and restarting the application again.
If you leave the central setting to 22 and change the icon size in the toolbar within an application to 16, the setting works permanently.
I hope this makes this bug clearly reproducable and fixable for 4.3 :-)

Can you reproduce it know with this description? I can still reproduce it in 4.3. Beta2

Should be fixed with
http://websvn.kde.org/?view=rev&revision=986786

After you checked can you lose it if it is fixed, thanks.

I already read about it. Great :-) Since I am not running SVN I can not test it yet. I wonder why it is set for KDE 4.4. Can't it be backportet to 4.3.1?

I have tested this against the issue which I have had -- the Extra ToolBar in Konqueror and it works.

AFAIK, the 4.3 RC has not been tagged yet.

IAC, this WFM so I would say that it should be closed, but we can wait till the reporter can test it.

Then it could be even in 4.3? Can somebody do that? Would be great :-)
