Version: (using KDE 4.1.1) Compiler: gcc version 4.2.1 20070719 [FreeBSD] OS: FreeBSD Installed from: FreeBSD Ports I recently upgraded one of my machines from KDE 3.5.9 to KDE 4.1.1. One of the bumps I encountered is that kopete did not recognize the accounts from the KDE 3 kopete config in ~/.kde/share/apps (FreeBSD, at least, puts KDE 4.x settings in ~/.kde4 rather than ~/.kde and I had simply copied ~/.kde/share/apps/kopete to ~/.kde4/share/apps). It did see the cached copy of the contact list, but none of the accounts were preserved. It would be nice if the upgrade process were more smooth. It is a plus that the contact list + user history (the history is probably the most important thing that can't be easily restored after an upgrade) did work though.
You forgot to copy ~/.kde/share/config/kopeterc.
