Description Aryan Ameri 2008-09-14 07:00:46 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.1.0)
Compiler: MSVC Binary supplied by kdewin-installer
OS: MS Windows
Installed from: MS Windows

The following issues can be observed when using notes on Windows:

The application can not be moved. It stays at the middle of the screen, it can be resized but it can not be moved; i.e., it seems to be locked perpetually there. Of course locking and unlocking don't seem to have any effects on it.

The "keep above others" and "keep below others" functions seems to have no effect.

The application's name does not appear on the windows taskbar. There is a placeholder on the taskbar, and the knotes icon is there, but it's name does not appear.

Right clicking on the application's placeholder on the windows taskbar does not produce any pop-up menu. It should normally produce the standard windows menu with Close, Restore, move, size, minimize and maximize options.

In the preferences dialog, the "show notes in taskbar" has no effect. Notes is always shown in taskbar, regardless of this setting.

In the same dialog box, the "remember desktop" dialog box might be irrelevant in windows, as virtual desktops do not exists in MS Windows by default. Of course this also depends on whether KDE Workspace on windows will ever implement virtual desktops.

The "Mail" option on a right-click menu automatically brings up Kmail. Shouldn't it look up for Windows' default MUA and use that, instead of automatically reverting to KMail?

Is this still valid with KDE 4.9?

Tested on Windows 7 with a build of master from 3.August 2012

- Application can not be moved-> still broken
- Locking and unlocking -> works for resize
- Keep above and below -> works
- Taskbar icon -> works
- Right clicking the application icon -> works the same as with other applications
- show notes in taskbar -> still no effect but should be removed for windows as this is handled centrally by the OS.
- remember desktop no longer shown -> works
- Mail option using kmail is ok imho as knotes and kmail are in the same package but this is arguable

I've opened https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=306557 for the "Moving around" issue so that this "multibug" can be resolved.
