Can you please try to reinstall the kmail package? Also, what architecture are you using? Personally, I cannot reproduce this bug with kmail 4.1.1 from debian packages on amd64.
My architecture is i386. vendor_id : GenuineIntel cpu family : 6 model : 23 model name : Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T8300 @ 2.40GHz Reinstalling doesn't change anything.
