Version: 0.8 (using 4.1.1 (KDE 4.1.1), Kubuntu packages) Compiler: gcc OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.24-19-generic I have assigned the shortcut WIN + B to the firefox application using the KDE Menu Editor on the Advanced Tab of the Firefox item. However this has no effect. I can't start Firefox through the shortcut. The same applies to all other shortcuts I set in the KDE Menu Editor - none is working.
I can confirm this issue, which is reproducable on multiple machines running KDE 4.1.0 and KDE 4.1.1 - keyboard shortcuts assigned to menu entries seem to have no effect at all.
That's correct, This will work again in KDE 4.2. Fixed with commit 862344

This bug still exists in 4.3
(In reply to comment #4) > This bug still exists in 4.3 I can't reproduce this with 4.3. It's still working after the upgrade from KDE 4.2.
> I can't reproduce this with 4.3. It's still working after the upgrade from KDE > 4.2. I posted a workaround in this report which should make it easier to track down the problem... https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=198155#c4 There is definitely a problem somewhere. Only thing I may have done differently was I changed the menu to classic view before I tried any shortcuts. But after that, I tried changing back to the new menu and still got the same results. Thanks for looking.
This bug is exactly what is still present in 4.3.0-1 (used from Debian unstable). I'm using the classic menu style and the script mentioned fixed my problem. Thanks for that BTW.

I am using kubuntu 10.4 with KDE 4.4.1 and cannot appear to use the khotkeys .. just wondering if there was a option within the system settings that I have not turned on.. it used to work in KDE 4.3
@Ian Porter: I don't understand the problem you have. Tell exactly what you are trying to achieve.
This still doesn't work in KDE 4.4.5.
