I'm sorry. This is one of the oldest and most impossible bugs we have in KOrganizer.

I bet the problem is that you have at least 1 binary attachment in your calendar file. We use a very old 3rd party library for doing the low-level calendar file handling and it doesn't like binary attachments.

So my advice is to use another calendar program to find and remove the events or to-dos that have binary attachments.

Let me know if that works for you.

Allen,

Wow! I'm a long-time lover of open source, linux and especially kde, but golly that's a level of support I've never seen before. Probably because I've never had a problem with kde before. (Sticking with 3.5 for now, 4 looks and feels great, just waiting for a _little_ more stability and usability).

I did as you suggested and opened it in sunbird, and lo and behold, it works! I didn't delete anything, maybe just a formatting error in the ics file that was "tidied" upon being read.

Keep up the great work, chops to you.

By the by, is this same library part of KDE4?

Thanks again, I owe you.

Eoin

I think sunbird doesn't understand binary attachments, so it just removes them for you. What luck :)

I'm trying to get a newer, more modern version of the library operational for KDE 4.2. But I'm always swamped with other more interesting things to do.

But I'll try.

What luck indeed!

As to your workload I can only sympathise. Maybe I could help?

More bug reports, design, coding, ... When I finish my doctorate :)

In the meantime, if you're ever in Dublin (again), let me know and I'll gladly buy you many celebratory pints of the black stuff, or take you on a tour of alternative Ireland, or what you like.

All the best,

Eoin

Hey, thanks for the offers.

Whenever you feel like helping please drop me a line or stop by #kontact.
We can always use help writing code, fixing bugs, implementing wishes..etc.

the amount of work seems never-ending
