Description John 2008-08-02 13:08:57 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.0.5)
Installed from: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux

When i open the kde menu editor (kmenuedit) 2 entries appear of most if not all kde applications.
This does not seem to affect the actual menu though.
This also doesnt seem to apply to any third party applications. Only applications that are part of kde.

This bug appears to be present starting from kde 4.0.0 all the way to kde 4.1.0.

Probably related. The exact same entries also show up twice in the Application Manuals in the KDE Help Centre.
Comment 1 Pino Toscano 2008-08-02 13:20:01 UTC
Are you sure that the duplicate entries are not both the KDE 3 and KDE 4 version of KDE applications?
Comment 2 John 2008-08-02 13:33:01 UTC
Seems unlikely. Both entries in any duplicate point to exactly the same application.

Fedora also does not ship with both versions of kde like some distros. It ships with kde 4.x only.

confirmed, what John says in comment #2 is true.

I have this same problem. Also I noticed that this entries are also present in KDE HElp center. I use fedora core 9 with kde 4.1.
When we perform search on Kickoff those duplicate entries are also showing.

We now believe that this is caused by our (Fedora's) kstandarddirs patch. I have a fixed patch working, please see the Fedora bug report for progress and builds to test:
