Description Timothy Cartwright 2008-08-01 00:14:22 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.1.0)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

I cannot resize or move the "folder view" widget at all. The handle bar the is suppose to appear with a mouse-over does not. There for I can't access the buttons, the resize button for example, within the handle bar. My "folder view" is frozen on the desktop.

Dell latitude D610 laptop
OS: linux
Distro: openSUSE 10.3
KDE: 4.1.X
Comment 1 Dario Andres 2008-08-01 00:42:58 UTC
Is only the "folderview" plasmoid blocked ?(can't view its handlebar) / Handlebar appears in another type of plasmoid/widget?
Can you add another folderview plasmoid to test?
Comment 2 Timothy Cartwright 2008-08-01 03:48:38 UTC
Yes, it appears that all plasmoids are blocked. I added both the analog clock and battery widget, and wasn't able to move/resize either after they were initially added to the desktop. The battery widget, which I added last, was placed directly over the analog clock widget in the top left corner. I also tried dragging the widgets on to the desktop and although I can place them where I want, once placed they are fixed.
Comment 3 Timothy Cartwright 2008-08-01 18:25:02 UTC
Actually, I can move the analog clock, but not the battery widget.
Comment 4 Aaron J. Seigo 2008-08-01 20:27:49 UTC
are the widgets locked? (you can check either from the panel or the desktop's plasma button (The thing that looks like a "cashew" ;) or from the desktop's right click menu)

if not, can you post your plasma-appletsrc file?
Comment 5 Timothy Cartwright 2008-08-02 05:14:42 UTC
The widgets are not locked. That was the first thing I checked.

Here's my plasma-appletsrc:

immutability=1
Comment 6 Dominik Tritscher 2008-08-02 10:11:12 UTC
Hm, most plasmoids have immutability=1
Guess that causes the problem...
Comment 7 Aaron J. Seigo 2008-08-03 02:21:49 UTC
Immutability=1 means "mutable", so that shouldn't be the problem.

and indeed, i just started plasma with Timothy's plasma-appletsrc and everything works just fine. here.

Timothy: can you attach (not paste! =) to this report your plasmarc now? thanks.
Comment 8 Timothy Cartwright 2008-08-03 02:49:29 UTC
Aaron, I don't think I have one. I did the following:

find ~timothy/ -name plasmarc

No results! Where exactly should it be?
Comment 9 Dario Andres 2008-08-03 02:52:08 UTC
It should be in $KDEHOMEDIR/share/config/plasma-appletsrc (ex. /home/user/.kde4/share/config/plasma-appletsrc)
Comment 10 Aaron J. Seigo 2008-08-03 02:57:29 UTC
if you don't have one, then that's ok. i can't reproduce your problem here with plasma built from source using your configuration files.

perhaps a packaging issue? *shrug*
Comment 11 Timothy Cartwright 2008-08-03 04:56:50 UTC
Perhaps. Oh well... might have to reinstall from scratch...
