Description Jürgen Walter Gruber 2008-07-31 16:19:48 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.1.0)
Installed from: Unlisted Binary Package

OS: Linux

Hello,

new windows normally appear on the left (primary) xinerama screen, even though the run dialog (Alt+F2) was on the right (secondary) screen. This is very irritating with windows that normally open fullscreen (like a maximized konqueror window), as these have then to be restored, moved, then maximized again.
Comment 1 Jürgen Walter Gruber 2008-07-31 16:24:14 UTC
As a clarification: After moving konqueror to the right screen, ALL new konqueror windows spawn in the right screen. Leaving konqueror in the left screen places ALL konquerors in the left screen.

Having one konqueror left and one right spawns the new konqueror window in the screen where the last active konqueror window resides in.

I request that new windows should spawn where you'd expect them to -- the screen where the run dialog was.

System settings -> Window behavior -> Activate "Active screen follows mouse" (AKA "Active screen mouse")
Comment 3 Jürgen Walter Gruber 2008-12-08 03:10:36 UTC
This solves it for many people, but not for me, who is used to not using the mouse mostly.

I therefore request the bug to be reopened.

What screens where the active window and mouse on when you activated KRunner?

Also the moving issue is fixed in 4.2 where you can drag maximized windows to different screens without restoring.
Comment 5 Jürgen Walter Gruber 2008-12-09 11:07:00 UTC
It seems that I didn't remember correctly. I was under the impression that Alt-Tabbing didnt set the active screen, and I cannot test this right now, but I think I misremembered.

Sorry for that.
