Compiler:          gcc
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.25.11-0.1-default

The problem is the following.
Set the volume via kmix to "Stummgeschaltet" (mute). Now the the icon in the
system tray shows an "x" and "Stummgeschaltet" in the menu is checked.
Now logout of your KDE4-session and log in again. The volume is still off, the
kmix icon still shows "x", but the "Stummgeschaltet" is unchecked.
This stays inconsistend until one logouts and login again with volume on.
