Version:           1.10.0 (using 4.1.00 (KDE 4.1.0), compiled sources)
Compiler:          gcc
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.24.5-smp

I select "empty trash on exit"
but after exit,when i run kmail
trash is not empty

I can not reproduce this, the trash is emptied fine for me.
I tried this with a new user: I composed a draft, saved that in the drafts folder, then moved it into the trash. Then I checked the "empty trash on exit" option and quit KMail. The trash was emptied.
