Linux 2.6.25-2-amd64, Debian Lenny X.Org X Server 1.4.2 + fglrx Asus Radeon 9600 SE Workaround: kwin --replace in terminal
If someone could create an English summary of that thread it would be a great help. Guessing dualhead mode, quite possibly a misconfiguration of X as the keyboard isn't working.
Dualhead mode indeed. With Gnome everything is fine. Also after "kwin --replace" in a terminal. So it is no misconfiguration of X.
Synaptic installed Debian testing package kwin version 4:3.5.9.dfsg.1-4. The problem is not solved.
I think I'm getting this problem. It's not that it's not starting, KWin is starting but it crashes with a QVector assert the moment a window is displayed on it.
Problem not solved with Debian testing (Lenny) package kwin version 4:3.5.9.dfsg.1-5.

Keeping open until I can confirm.
The bug is still there in 3.5.10 (openSUSE 11.1, released 2008-12-18) I've been getting it for some months. At least since 11.0 (with KDE 3.5.9).
can this KDE3 bug be closed now?
