Description Vladimir 2008-07-20 07:46:35 UTC
Version: (using Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
Compiler: gcc 4.3.1 With gentoo patchset.
OS: Linux

When I do right click -> properties -> ignore nothing happens. Same if I'm adding contact to within editing accont properties.
Comment 1 Dominik Tritscher 2008-07-20 16:49:47 UTC
I can confirm that for the ICQ protokoll in the same software version installed from kubuntu packages.
Comment 2 Dominik Tritscher 2008-07-20 17:04:35 UTC
Just did some further tests: The problem is that the ICQ-ignore-list supports only a certain amount of entries. If this limit is reached, the above problem occures. If the limit is not reached the ICQ contact is correctly put on the ignore list, both via context menu and via protocoll-settings.
So the only problem is the lack of feedback to the user. I suggest to add a checkbox to the context menu entry indicating whether the contact is on ignore ore not. This would also make it possible to "unignore" via context menu.
Additionally a warning if the maximum of entries is reached should be displayed to the user.
Comment 3 Roman Jarosz 2008-07-20 19:54:00 UTC
Dominik: there is a checkbox action in context menu so if a contact is on ignore list then the checkbox is checked and you can uncheck it.

The warning is good idea. I'll add a warning and will check if we can increase the limit if necessary. Btw how many contacts do you have on your ignore list, IIRC the limit is 128 contacts?

Vladimir: do you have the same problem as Dominik described?
Comment 4 Dominik Tritscher 2008-07-30 09:44:28 UTC
Roman: I have no idea how many contacts there are. As the amount is not shown and I'm to lazy to count by hand, i can't tell you ;) But the limit is set by the ICQ Servers AFAIK, so I don't think there is a possibility to increase that.

Bug still there in kde 4.1.2's version, but it doesn't appears in kde 4.1.67's version of kopete.
Contacts in ignore list: 4. A lot less then limit.

Vladimir could you compile Kopete with debug info and see what Kopete prints in console when you are trying to add contact to ignore list?

Btw I've changed the kDebug to kWarning in Kopete (which will be in KDE 4.2) so user will see what's going wrong even without debug build. I've forgot about the GUI and now it's too late :(

Is this still valid? There were some changes which may have fix it.

I'm using Kopete 1.0.0 on Archlinux, KDEmod 4.4.1. Right now I received a message from some ICQ spammer, that I put on ignore before. I just wondered, because I wanted to set him on ignore, just to find, that the option was already active.

Neverteless I got his message despite he is ignored...

I'm not using Kopete or ICQ anymore. Can't say anything about this bug.
