Description Javier G. 2008-07-18 19:13:53 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.0.98)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Hi,
Right now there is no way to filter file extensions that you want show in the folderview like the ".desktop" files used on older versions of KDE on the desktop.

Could be used a copy of the current filter located in folderview options menu and replace the default value * by the word desktop (without the dot)
By default every ".desktop" file should be showed without the extension ".desktop"

If you rename a file with hidden extension will be showed the full name, but only during the name edition.

There are two ways to interpret your report:
- It is not possible to filter files in Folder View when they have the .desktop extension.
- In Folder View the .desktop extension of desktop-files is shown, something you wanted to see corrected.

Today, using KDE 4.7.2 / Fedora 16 Beta, both problems are solved:
- I am able to match .desktop files.
- The extension of .desktop files shown in Folder View won't be displayed.

I don't see this as solved.
If you configure the folder-view to show a specific folder, it always shows the file-extension, even for .desktop-files. And there is no option to hide the file-extensions or even to configure it to hide only specified extensions.
