Perhaps it has something to do with the long artist tags that I have. I have quite a few of them...
I've tried it again. Restarted Amarok, resized its main window to something reasonable. Right clicked on a known short titled track, and then edit track details, but immediately a very oversized long edit window that cannot be resized. Make sure you try in the collection browser. The playlist is no problem. Surprisingly, as it seems to me that should be the same code?
I am still unable to reproduce this problem. Maarten, could you please send me one of the problematic tracks via email?
The problem is quite strange anyway. I installed a new svn yesterday, threw away everything amarok related in .kde4.1 but I still get this problem all the time. There should be a problem anyway, as the black window bug happens in the same case, and does not happen in the case of the playlist either. I'm not sure at all that it has anything to do with the long artist tracks, because I never got a normal sized window from the collection browser. But I'll send you one.

I can't reproduce this any longer and seem to remember someone fixing it. Please reopen if it still a problem in current svn. Thank you for your report.
One needs a special file to trigger the bug. Mark got a track and reproduced it. Nothing changed in the situation until rev 849581, August 19. The bug is still there.
Fixed with SVN commit r850348.
Regression in an SVN-version of 3 October. The problem is back, including the black window problem with compositing enabled.
