Version: (using KDE 4.0.98) Installed from: SuSE RPMs OS: Linux For showing off Plasma features and allowing user to get more used to Plasma and it's features it should be possible to save the current layout and widgets and load another one. The user could check out existing presets with corresponding documentation to see which workflow fits him most. example myself: I couldn't stand the current state of the panel (lost the kickoffbutton and two weeks ago couldn't get it properly placed) and just switched over to a totally panelless layout and use Ctrl+f12 for switching to the dashboard and alt+f2 to start my programs, using the cool application switcher from kwin makes for a totally different experience very useful on the widescreen displays that are so "in" today I bet there are other completely uncommon but totally usable settings a user could cycle through for getting used to plasma
I'm actually planning something a bit like this for my soc project (widgets on the screensaver). perhaps I should expand it and make it useful for plasma in general. :)
Hello! This feature request was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this feature request is already implemented in Plasma 5, or is no longer applicable. Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this feature request. If the requested feature is still desired but not implemented in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging Thanks for your understanding!
