In additionally to tray icon animation, when there's an unread notification the colour of the icon could change into another colour, indicating an unread notification.

This and bug 88573 could be merged, in my opinion it's a very useful feature. It would really help those (like me) who want to keep the "desktop footprint" of kopete as small as possible because they multitask a lot, having more information from the tray icon would be great.

In 4.2.1 the kopete tray icon properly animates when there are unread messages, maybe this bug should be closed.

Closing it since Kopete from KDE 4.x fixed this bug.
