Description S Clark 2008-07-08 02:24:00 UTC
Version: (20080707 SVN) (using Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
Compiler: gcc (Gentoo 4.3.1 p1.0) 4.3.1 (AMD64)
OS: Linux

This has actually been an issue throughout the KDE4.x development as far as I can tell.

It used to be that if I had an application running on, say, Virtual Desktop #1, and I was on Virtual Desktop #4, I could right-click on the application on the panel, select "To Current Desktop", and it'd cause the application on Virtual Desktop #1 to move to Virtual Desktop #4.

Since KDE4, this feature is useless because right-clicking on the application automatically shifts my focus to the APPLICATION'S current desktop. (Presumably "To Current Desktop" is actually still working, but since you're always dragged over to the applications CURRENT "current desktop" before you can select the option, the "Current Desktop" ends up being not the one you were on, but the one the application was already on.)

I'm on the SVN version of 4.1 post-Beta2 as of today and still seeing the problem, though I first noticed it way back in 4.0.x.

i use this feature daily ... haven't heard of this problem from others, either. sounds very much like a local issue rather than something actually in the taskbar.

Quick followup - I tried every configuration option I could find but couldn't find anything that would change this behavior...

HOWEVER - As I expected, this was working correctly in my still-installed KDE 3.5.9 setup.

I wiped out the KDE4 config that I had been working with and copied the 3.5.9 config into its place, and booted back into my KDE4.1 install. This feature DOES work correctly for me now (any idea what config option might be causing this? Just curious, since this is RESOLVED for me as well now.)
